Thank you for visiting my site! I am excited to share my writing – unique thoughts and reflections on my experiences.
I love story, and I am so grateful to those who have shared their experiences with me – in conversation, a magazine article, newspaper column, film, a book, or via a social media – all have helped me to understand myself and others better, given me tips for coping in crisis, and shown me how to laugh at myself. Most of all, they taught me how to find my own new story in every day life experiences.
Many times thinking of a humourous twist to a challenging situation gives me strength to embrace positivity and creativity. Other times, I find putting thoughts to written words gives new perspectives and vision. My hope is that my writing will inspire readers to find the music and colour in life that sometimes gets drowned by the mundane routines of life.
In my non-writing life, I teach private music lessons, look for new learning experiences, and try to spend time with family in between the chaos of my business life.
Travelling to new places is probably my most favourite past-time of all. I dream of getting a world map tattooed on my back and having eachprovince, state, or country I have visited painted a different colour. Airport stops do not count!
My trip to New Orleans was the inspiration to take my creativity more seriously. I felt the passion in the music, and so wrote The Soul of New Orleans which became the catalyst to start sharing my writing and speaking with a broader audience.
I am indebted to many who encouraged me and helped build my confidence so that I could learn how to play piano, get an education, be gainfully employed for most of my life, be single, get married, raise kids – and learn how to build a website. Thanks to my family for providing me with never-ending content for my writing and speaking. I hope readers will enjoy hearing about our quirkiness.
